Check for leaks, particularly at the oil filter area. Stop the engine and let it set for 4-5 minutes. Pull the dipstick, clean it off, and re-insert the dipstick, screwing it all the way in. Take it back out, oil level should be on the stick.I have a Craftsman 17.5 hp lawn tractor, model 917.273372. The manual says to change the oil filter every other time you change the oil.
